You need to know a defect is present, before you can determine if its contributed to the collision

CAN YOU SPOT WHAT'S WRONG IN THESE PICTURES?

Could something like this be the cause of a collision? Well, before you answer that question, you need to know what "this" is.

Now this particular car was not involved in a collision, it was a car a customer asked me to look at following their engine management and ABS light illuminating. I was told their car felt like it had lost power at 30mph or above, so they asked if I would have a look, and of course, I jumped at the chance. I love these kinds of mysteries. This sounded suspiciously like a misfire.

A download of the faults codes using a TOPDON diagnostic machine, confirmed it was indeed an engine misfire, code P0300, which is either a random or multiple cylinder misfire.

But what about that pesky ABS light? Could there be a defect with the ABS as well, or could this be coincidence?

What does this have to do with collision investigation? Without a proper inspection, it would be easy to assume both lights were connected and equally easy to assume both lights were caused by individual issues. Only when a thorough inspection is completed, can you determine which of the two assumptions, is true.

As it turns out, in this case, when the coil pack was changed, the ABS light went out.
